The joys of being a stay-at-home wife and mother while running a full-time design business are plentiful. A flexible schedule. Spending a lot of time with my daughter, Lucy. Pouring myself into a creative field which I love. The thankful praise from my husband who truly appreciates my efforts at home…just to name a few. Though like most things, there are pros and cons to wearing many hats throughout the day. Most days are a juggling exhibition between answering emails, preparing meals, working on design orders, sorting through endless laundry and still taking time to enjoy the precious moments in life. Although at times it feels like one big chaotic mess, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Elegant Script Design: Wedding invitation set, customized in lovely navy and coral colors.
While snapping a few pictures of a recent wedding invitation order (shown above), I had a little “help” from Lucy, who was clamoring for some mommy-attention, and managed to catch these lovely moments as well…
She can’t express herself beyond a few words right now, but I took her gestures as “Stop working and play with me now!” Ah, the luxury dilemma. Five more minutes of work or five minutes of play time. How could I say no to that sweet face?
Although working from home has a certain rhythm in waves, I am still learning to balance these diverse responsibilities. I would love to hear some tricks of the trade from other working moms, so feel free to share your wisdom!
